ARTISTIC TRAVELS

On April 5th 1992 in Bytom, the Silesian Dance Theater had its inaugural performance. Since then the SDT has been performing around the country, promoting the idea, basic principles and values of the art of dance.

The actions of the company not only attract new audience to the contemporary dance - even those people who have never thought about attending a dance spectacle before (mostly because of associating dance with concepts of classical ballet), but also help broaden society's awareness of the value of dance as one of the most modern arts, highly appreciated in today’s world. Twice a month, the SDT performs on their home stage in Bytom, and thanks to the contacts with various art organizations in Warsaw, Cracow, Wrocław, Szczecin, Gdańsk, Poznań, Katowice and Kalisz, the Theatre can present their productions across the country. Thanks to these connections, invited international companies are able to perform in Poland as well. The presence of the SDT on the international scene is possible mostly on account of their fresh approach to structures and forms of the performances creating a unique style, and also because of the attitude that the Theatre's creators have towards the art as a factor in forming a new society. This uniqueness has been enabling the Silesian Dance Theatre to establish relations with organizations in the USA, Canada, Holland, Switzerland, Germany, France, Luxemburg, Austria, Israel and Lithuania.
